Summer 2025 - Updating the Langlais Lab website is deeeeeeeep down on the priority list, it's last actually (see the "Publications" section for example). At some point I reach critical mass of things I need to add, most of which end up being student updates. I'll send the call out to the old crew, get current status, then fire up the new crew and tell them to send me a pic if they'd like to be on the website. Two days ago I heard "Ya, i'm not on there. I checked." WELCOME FABIOLA! A southern Arizona native, Fabiola comes to the Langlais Lab from the MARC program, a 30-year NIH initiative here at the UA designed to provide undergraduates opportunities in research labs. I'm always surprised when this happens. I'll even ask "how on EARTH did you end up here?". You know what the answer usually is "I liked your website". The End of The Internet Strikes Again! Fabiola was able to competitively get selected for MARC because of her academics and even more cool-ly, she is interested in, wait for it....A CAREER IN BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH YEAH! That's right, we got another one, suck it medical school! Actually, I take that back, Fabiola is one above, she's interested in an MD-PhD. If I could go back in time, and actually be a real student that had life goals and an actual interest in a career instead of only focusing on having the most fun from each day in college, I would have shot for the MD-PhD, I believe it's the most informative approach when setting the foundation of biological understanding. Anyway, Fabiola is with us for her Junior (this year) and Senior year, that is, unless the MARC program gets shut down (again) before then (only to have it get reinstated). Shout out to UBRP for picking up Fabiola during the MARC temporary shut-down, appreciate. Fabiola crushed her summer internship and not only that, she ended up in San Antonio at the annual MARC conference and presented the project she worked on and she won an award (check out the pic above!). Let's see what kind of adventures Fabiola gets in as she makes her way to graduation....
